Monthly Financial Snapshot: June 2019

Another month gone by in my 3 month stay in Japan.

This month was pretty good on the spending front. Since I have already pre-paid my housing, most of my spending this month was food and transportation. A family member came to visit during the latter part of the month, so I did some extra traveling and restaurant-eating than I would have otherwise. Other than that, spending was pretty low-key for the month.

On the investment side, I have been pleased with the performance of the Pinwheel Portfolio this month. Some slices (gold, US stocks) have performed very well (6%+ gains), while others have gained less (REITs, bonds, international stocks). I also received my first quarterly dividend payments with this new portfolio, totaling $1746.20. Since there are a variety of asset classes in my portfolio, there are more opportunities to re-balance as they continue to move in different directions.
